Here are some of the key moments in our history.

2022

In 2022, we won a tender to open our first units at Reykjavík airport, which will mark our entry to Iceland.

We sign a six-year deal with Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport to open 34 units.

2021

We enter the West Indies markets with a win in Martinique.
We become the first airport operator to launch an AI-powered, contactless retail concept in partnership with Zippin at JFK Airport, New York.
We form a joint venture with Groupe ADP in Paris to improve the hospitality and retail experience at Paris-Orly and Paris-Charles de Gaulle airports.

2020

We enter the Malaysian market and win a tender for more than 20 units at Dublin Airport. We also announce plans to buy Station Food, a travel catering subsidiary of Germany’s national rail company, Deutsche Bahn AG

2019

Our first units are opened in Brazil and the first ever Burger King in a Belgian airport is opened at Brussels South Charleroi. We also take majority control of Red Rock’s food travel operations in Australia

2017

We debut in both Israel and the Philippines and win a contract at Chicago Midway International Airport.

2016

We boost our presence in India, taking a 49% stake in the Travel Food Services joint venture with K Hospitality

2014

SSP lists on the London Stock Exchange

2010

We close a $100 million deal to operate at Sacramento International

2009

We make our debut in Australia at Sydney Airport

2008

We acquire Lufthansa’s airport restaurant business. SSP is rebranded as ‘Food Travel Experts’ underlining our leading position in the food travel sector

2006

EQT partners, the private equity group, acquires SSP for £1.2 billion

2004

Further international acquisitions follow including Mitropa AG and Creative Host Services in the US. SSP is set up as a specialist division within Compass

1995

Our first move into the Asian market comes when we win a contract in Bangkok.

1993

Compass acquires SAS Service Partner, changing its name to Scandinavian Service Partner

Compass plc buys Travellers Fare

SAS Catering changes its name to SAS Service Partner

British Rail Catering becomes Travellers Fare
